Médecins Sans Frontières (also known as Doctors without Borders or MSF) is a private, non-profit, international humanitarian medical organization that intervenes in emergencies and crisis situations to relieve human suffering resulting from unmet medical needs.
Main Purpose:
Administer receipt, storage, and issuance of a wide range of drugs and other medical supplies and food items the project and departments according to the supervisor´s instructions and MSF standards, in order to ensure the overall functioning of MSF activities.
Main objectives and responsibilities of the position
Receipt of goods: Reception of goods. Responsible for checking of the quantity and quality of goods received. Use Goods Receiving Note when receiving goods. Inform the line manager of any problems (missing or damaged goods, etc.). Immediately after reception of goods, update stock cards and/or create stock cards for all stock items and encode in software Check the cold box directly on reception and control the cold chain-monitoring card and feedback the supply department. Stock management: Ensures that all stock movements are recorded according to MSF purchase and supply procedures. Set up and maintain a proper organisation of the storage area according to family, storage procedures, and that all correctly stored, well protected, fully identified and easily accessible (cleanliness, security, access, etc.). Keep a special control of “sensitive” goods numbers of lots, expiry dates, and packaging and special storage conditions. Ensure returned and out-of-date medication is safely removed to a well designated quarantine zone for unwanted pharmaceuticals, separated from the normal stock. Maintain minimum stock levels of medicines, checking expiry dates and storage conditions. Ensure no medicines or materials are taken out of the dispensary without authorization. Place accurate and timely orders with the central stock. In conjunction with the supervisor, perform physical stock counts in accordance with the frequency previously defined. Immediately inform the line manager of any problems arising in the course of the work, particularly with regard to damage, loss, attempted break-ins or theft in the pharmacy Reports monthly on potential ruptures and any items that will expire. Responsible for monitoring the store temperature and ensure Cold Chain items are stored in an adequate temperature Assist the line manager with preparation of the stock report.
Drug Dispensing Dispense medication to patients according to medical prescription. Ensure the medication is labeled with the correct drug name, strength, quantity, expiry date, directions for use and includes and additional required information. Provide clear instructions and advice on how to take the drug, when, how long, how to store, possible side-effects and any other relevant warnings. Make sure the patient understands in order to ensure correct treatment. Adhere to MSF practice policies and procedures for dispensing medicines, in particular those relating to controlled drugs. Ensure respect of confidentiality in dispensing. Maintain accurate dispensing records and regularly report them to his/her technical reference. Carry out Patient Therapeutic Education (PTE) and interact with patient using a patient based approach to accompany chronic disease (HIV, TB,etc.) patients along their visits: Receive patient, inform about treatment and adherence, ensuring confidentiality at any time. Give appointment for the next drug delivery. Inform medical doctor in case of a lack of adherence. Identify the reasons and find solutions to improve adherence Other Maintain the integrity and security of the dispensary by admitting only authorized personnel and ensuring that all medicines are stored as appropriate. Report immediately to the technical reference on any problem arising in the service (especially loss, robbery, quality problems with medicines (abnormal changes in color, consistency, odor,) damage of medical equipment or medicines). Participate in training gap identification and training midlevel staffs. Performs other activities given by immediate supervisor. Remuneration and Benefits:

Job Requirement
Essential druggist or Pharmacy Technician Diploma. With minimum 2 years’ experience.
Previous experience as a Pharmacist Essential
Local language and Mission language essential
Essential basic mathematics and use of measuring equipment.
