Hamlin Fistula Ethiopia is a world leading organization committed to the treatment and reintegration of patients suffering from Obstetric Fistula and the training and deployment of qualified midwives to prevent Obstetric Fistula and other child birth injuries.
HFE is Founded in 1974 by Drs Catherine and Reginald Hamlin have been caring for the women of Ethiopia for almost 40 years. As well as our main hospital in Addis Ababa we also have 5 regional hospitals, a rehabilitation, and reintegration center and a midwifery school. We also deploy midwives into 25 health centers across the country and provide mentoring and other support services to these health centers.

Job Title : Prevention/Health Officer

Job Summary/Basic Function
To coordinate and technically support various Hamlin fistula centers and relevant regional bureaus,wereda offices and other stakeholders in the prevention of obstetric fistula, identification and referral of hidden patients and facilitate their reintegration.
1. Coordinate activities between outreach centers, regional health bureaus, zonal health desks, weredas health offices and NGOs dealing with maternal health to identify hidden fistula patients, awareness creation and strengthen the existing referral system
2. Under the guidance of the head of the centre who consults with managers of treatment, prevention and reintegration, work with regional health bureaus to coordinate activities for patient identification, treatment and rehabilitation in collaboration with other regional partners and in line with the plan of action of the national fistula task force
3. To submit monthly report providing details of prevention project, such as patient identification and survey of available health centers, and submit to the head of outreach centre and the monitoring, evaluation officer and planning and project office
4. To participate in training of health centre and health post staff in identification of ‘hidden’ fistula patients and screening, referral and pre-surgical treatment of fistula patients
5. To coordinate with the reintegration team and organize resources to make sure that individualized plans for patient reintegration and livelihood are appropriately implemented
6. To participate in data collection of post-operative outcomes for fistula patients with the head of the centre, the monitoring and evaluation officer planning and project offices per the reporting format
7. To prepare monthly report detailing patient treatment activities of the centre as per the reporting format, along with any recommendations and submit to the head of the centre and the monitoring and evaluation officer/ planning and project office
8. To participate in the monitoring and evaluation of activities of the centre as directed by the planning and project office
9. To work closely with outreach centre staff assisting in all aspects of clinical care given as required and assigned by the head of the centre
10. To liaise with regional authorities and represent the hospital in meetings and conferences
11. To attend quarterly health officers’ meeting organized at AAFH
12. To perform any other related tasks as requested by the head of the centre

Job Requirement
minimum education : BSC in Public Health
minimum experience : 4 years experience in public health and in rural setting
