JOB SUMNMARY: CHAI is currently implementing a Maternal and Newborn program in all regions in the country. The program is positioned to address the challenges on priority services delivery areas of MNH through availing the MNH essential lifesaving commodities, ensuring their usage and use of technology solutions to improve MNH services in the country in collaboration with the Government of Ethiopia. Hence, the MNH Program would like to hire a qualified and committed candidate for the M&E officer position who will support the MNH program in the country on full-time bases. Under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Program Manager, Program Mangers; and in collaboration with the M&E team, the M&E officer develop and implement M&E systems focused on data collection, compilation and analysis for all MNH activities. In addition, he/she will work with M&E staff to document programs and best practices.
Major duties and Responsibilities:
· On the basis of MNH project requirements and needs, review and develop log frames M& E plans for proposals, integrating M&E into project design, contributing to project planning, also providing timely preparation and contributions to donor reporting.
· Conduct data analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results of activities during the MNH program implementation.
· Assist with planning and conducting assessments (baseline, midterm and end line) and evaluate studies in collaboration with the team
· Develop monitoring and evaluation tools (data collection, analysis etc.).
· Conduct site visits to assess program implementation and to ensure that programs are moving in the right direction and identify bottlenecks and solutions
· Assist with creation of documents and presentations for training on statistical methods; peer review of reports, manuscripts and presentations
· Support the development and implementation of trainings on data management and M&E
· Gathering data, information on MNH programs and best practices through interviews, literature reviews and other means
· Document best practices(case studies, end of projects etc.) which can be shared with other CHAI offices and partners
· In collaboration with IT staff, assist with the development of system for the office (SharePoint or other Web based system) to store and share key information about programs and CHAI Ethiopia.
· Assist in the development of M&E and Evidence for Impact tools which can be used by CHAI offices.
· Work closely with CHAI M&E team
· Other activities as assigned by supervisor.
Job Requirements
Essential Experiences, Skills, and Knowledge:
· Minimum of master’s degree in Public Health, Statistics, Epidemiology or other related field,
· A minimum of 5 years work experience
· Knowledge of excel, access, SPSS, and mapping software such as EPI INFO, Health mapper, ARCGIS.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team
· Excellent oral and written communication skills particularly in English
· Fluency (oral and written) in at least one Ethiopian language preferred
· Must be able to handle multiple tasks and have ability to work professionally in multicultural settings
· Sensitive to confidential information and assuring client privacy
· Must be self-motivated and independently deliver expected tasks
· Willing to travel to rural sites
