POST TITLE: Financial Manager

Armaure Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) a distinguished Research Institute working on medical research, is inviting applications for the above position.
PURPOSE OF THE POST
The Financial Manager is responsible for the general management of the Finance Department of AHRI. S/he performs the following functions as per the Internationally Accepted Accounting and Financial Management standards and government rules and regulations. Under the supervision of Finance and Procurement Coordinator of AHRI, the incumbent establishes financial management capacity of AHRI’s facilitate the smooth transaction of funds allocated to the institute.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POST INCLUDE:
· Manage the general activities of the Finance Department.
· Prepare accurate and timely financial report to appropriate bodies;
· Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audit;
· Ascertain that audit findings and recommendations are taken care of;
· Establish, maintain and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures;
· Ensure that the financial management system of the AHRI is strengthened;
· Analyze and review budget and expenditure, monitor and review accounting related system report for accuracy and completeness;
· Endures that accounting records are maintained and financial reports are prepared on schedule delivered to the
· F & P Coordinator, Scientific Director, the CEO, the board and to the donors as per the grant agreement and the government rules and regulations.
· Ensures that disbursements are made to sub-grantees on time upon looking at the proper appraisal and approval of projects made by the institute.
· Ensure the preparation of monthly bank reconciliation, aging reports.
· Maintain budget trucking system.
· Oversee surprise and inventory counts.
· Prepares work plan and annual administrative budgets for the organization and prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual cash flow statements to determine and arrange cash requirements.
· Monitoring and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends;

· Authorizes payments, sign cheques and payment vouchers as per the limit of authority set by the F & P Coordinator and Scientific Director.
· Assists the Finance and Procurement Coordinator in discharging the organizations financial responsibilities.
· Monitoring and interpreting cash flows and predicting future trends
· Recommend, develop and maintain financial data base, computer software systems and manual filing systems;
· Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education requirements: Advanced University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration + professional qualification with CPA, ACCA, CIMA.
Work Experience: A minimum of eight years professional relevant work experience working in financial management, financial utilizations of project. Work experience with proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports and projections. Knowledge of government finance (mandatory), accounting, budgeting, and cost control system including financial regulations required. Ability to promote team work in the AHRI and other stakeholders is required. Competency in the use of computer software internet and computer-based management tools, good skill in accounting software especially Peachtree and accounting software (mandatory).
Language Proficiency: Fluency in English (both verbal and drafting skills).
