X. Role Profile
The Field Natural Resource Management (NRM)/Climate Change Advisor will act as the key technical support person supporting the implementation and accomplishment of all natural resource and climate change adaptation related activities related to the Pastoralist Areas Resiliency Improvement through Market Expansion (PRIME) program in the field operation areas. With supervision and direction from the Deputy IR2 Leads, NRM/Climate Change (CC) Advisor, and the overall leadership team, the individual will be responsible for ensuring quality technical implementation and coordination around the NRM and Climate Change Adaptation related activities as per established workplan, guidelines and direction from the IR2 leadership team. The incumbent will also be responsible for capacity-building of field staff and government partners in PRIME’s NRM/CC tools and technical approach. S/he will work closely with and support the field project managers, as well as other field-based technical advisors, to ensure NRM/CC activities are implemented in a coordinated and harmonized manner, in support of the livestock productivity and livelihood expansion technical areas of the program.
XI. Duties and Responsibilities

· Provide systematic technical support to ensure quality and impactful implementation of all NRM/CC related activities in the area of operation, as per the agreed upon workplan and established guidance and support of the IR2 leadership team.
· Strengthen performance of team in NRM/CC activities providing on-site support to field officers during activity implementation, and facilitating or coordinating capacity-building workshops and trainings as agreed upon with supervisor.
· Identify areas for further capacity development in NRM/CC for field teams, partners and communities; liaise with IR 2 leadership team to obtain appropriate support.
· Provide technical support in the implementation of the environmental mitigation and management plan at the field level, supporting all sectors to screen relevant activities against plan.
· Establish and/or maintain strong working relationships, formal and informal communication mechanisms with all NRM/CC stakeholders at field-level, and within the PRIME program and CARE’s field programming in NRM/CC.
· Facilitate or strengthen field-level networks and forums on NRM and CCA related activities in the program implementation area.
· Coordinate systematically with the field–based livestock and alternative livelihoods advisors, other sector leaders and field-based program managers to ensure harmonization of approach in activity implementation, and supporting activities across sectors to build off of each other.
· Support buy-in and enhanced understanding of PRIME’s approach, strategy and intended impact in relation to NRM and climate change among communities, local government and other NRM/CC stakeholders at the field level.
· Keep field teams and IR 2 leadership team up-to-date on government and partner strategies and activities related to NRM/CC; liaise with IR2 leadership team to ensure PRIME activities are appropriately harmonized with GO and NGO interventions and initiatives.
XII. Qualifications (Know How)
§ BSC in Climate Change/Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Natural Resource Management, other field related to climate change and NRM or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
