Summary of Main Duties and Responsibilities
Regional Data manageris responsible for coordination and management of RHB databases including merging the Register databases(RDBs) from health facilities and other available electronic data sources. S/he will also be responsible for preparation of routine and customized reports,designing of queries to support data analysis. S/he will also be involved in ensuring the data management capabilities under JHU-TSEHAI are systematically transferred to the RHB on need bases.
Detailed Duties and Responsibilities
Consolidate/ Merge the RDB and update/append the merged RDB regularly by working closely with JHU-TSEHAI M&E coordinators.
Coordinate Data Analysis and interpretation at RHB level.
Support data analysis and interpretation at RHB level with guidance from HMIS head and regional data officer.
Support data quality management activities at RHB level
Take database backup as per the SOP
Prepare datasets and respond to data requests from different data users of the RHBs
Work closely with RHB HMIS/Plan program unit to fulfill data requirement
Produce useful insight and valuable information from Database
Recognize and extract critical indictors from large complex data set and being able to interpret and express those indictors in research context
Develop and update the standard operation procedure/manual for Central Register databases
Should have timey updated information on health facilities with RDB in consultation with
RHB and JHU_TSEHAI regional manager and act accordingly
Perform other duties as assigned by the Immediate Supervisor/s
Job Requirement
Knowledge:
Adequate knowledge of the HIV relevant M&E activities and potential HIVservice out lets in health facilities.
Must have adequate knowledge on the Microsoft application system
Database management systems.
Paper based and electronic data management.
Ability:
Ability to respond to queries from RHB level. Committed to non-traditional working hours as deemed necessary.
Ability to work as a team.
Trouble shoot database related flaws.
Skills:
The data manager should have the following proved skills
Written and oral proficiency in Amharic & English.
Health related data management.
Must possess excellent interpersonal communication skills
Experience in SQL server
Acceptable level of HIV/AIDS related awareness
Familiarity with data analysis computer programs is a must
Ability to quantify data in an easily understandable fashion.
Data management using Database and ability to use statistical software like SNPSS, EPI info, STATAis a plus
Education:
Degree in Computer Science and/or information technology minor in statistics from recognized university
Degree in Statistics minor in computer from recognized university
Experience :
Degree in Computer Science and/or information technologywith 2-years relevant experience
Degree in Statistics/or minor in computer with 3years relevant experience.
