Soil & More Ethiopia (SME) is a new, innovative social enterprise established by Soil & More International from the Netherlands and Farm Organics International from Ethiopia. This joint venture has acquired 18 hectares of land in Ziway (south of Addis Ababa) to set up a composting facility. Contracts are in place with existing rose farmers to provide input material while a large network has been established for supporting both commercial farmers and small holder farmers to become more sustainable. The company is currently constructing offices ,workshop, training centre and already started compost production on a small scale since the first machines have arrived.
SME is now hiring people and is looking for an experienced Finance Head.
Job description
Set up and supervise financial department in all necessary aspects that is required
Set up, Manage a company's financial accounting, monitoring, evaluation and reporting systems;
Report directly to the owners and other stakeholders
Ensure financial administrative functions are in a prompt manner
budget preparation together with GM and budget guarding
Supervise and control monthly payroll
Conduct regular financial and administration audits
Check Regular payment collection & payment of employee income tax
Follow up VAT declaration & claim
Check and follow up of payment of outstanding invoices
Design & manage good stock management system and monitoring stock movement
Design good purchasing cycle and controlling the activities
Developing external relationships with appropriate contacts e.g. auditors, solicitors, bankersand statutory organizations such as the Inland Revenue
Analyzing change and advising accordingly;
Formulating strategic and long-term business plans;
Researching and reporting on factors influencing business performance;
Developing financial management mechanisms that minimize financial risk;
Conducting reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities;
Liaising with auditors to ensure annual and quarterly monitoring is carried out;
Ensure that appropriate financial regulations and controls are in place and in use at all times
Performs other related duties as may be required
Be sounding board for the Managing Director
Job Requirement
Requirements:
Young, dynamic and energetic
BA degree in Accounting / Finance
Language proficiency: excellent in English, knowledge of Dutch and / or German is welcomed
At least 5 years of experience in similar setting of which at least 2-3 years experience in a similar management position;
Affinity with organic farming, fair trade, sustainability (shared vision)
practical working ethos
Other
knowledge of peach-tree accounting program,
ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the telephone with individuals and with a wide variety of organizations and information and produce clear verbal and written reports.
