Job summary
The Energy Officers provides project management and leadership to the energy portion of the project for effective and timely execution of the Energy Programme under the Project. This will be achieved by managing and supervising areas of the work programme, conducting analysis and proposing improvements to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Energy Programme. Thus, considering the donor funded program intervention in the sphere of environment, the officer is responsible to implement the under stated activities:
Detailed duties and responsibilities
1. Prepares plan of action and budget for the programs and act accordingly
2. Coordinate and manage all energy activities of the proposal, to include the establishment of indicators for its impact on sustainable energy awareness in the Community as well as an appropriate review and feedback mechanism for facilitating continuous improvement;
3. Coordinate consultancies for the energy activities including for feasibility study;
4. Provide leadership to strategy development for energy in refugee camps in Shire area
5. Provide leadership and management to Head of Biomass Sesame Production and Head Facilitator
6. Manage the development and continuous updating of Biomass ‑appropriate energy awareness material and products for distribution;
7. Coordinate Energy Data, Energy Information and Knowledge Management Component of the Sustainable Energy, to include the timely input from and, where necessary, support for other stakeholders;
8. Provides technical assistance to social workers & community leaders in accomplishing planned activities.
9. Develop criteria for beneficiary selection & distribution of materials by involving stakeholders and act accordingly
10. Identify target groups to be supported and properly document the selection and distribution lists both in soft and hard copy
11. Mobilize community via context appropriate methodologies to attract community participation.
12. Mainstream gender and child protection issues in the ongoing programs, implementing partners and different community structures
13. Monitors and evaluate the implementation of program activities on continuous basis and take feasible corrective actions based on the findings.
14. Prepares and submits periodic (weekly, monthly, quarter ) reports to program manager with the required reporting format
15. Perform any other duties in keeping with job function as assigned by the Programme Manager or his or her designate.
III. Position Requirements
· B.Sc or Masters Degree in degree in Energy, Engineering, Applied Science or other relevant field preferred.
· Minimum 4 years’ relevant and equivalent level experience working within the energy sector
· Experience in the environmental sector and specifically biomass production highly preferred

o Competent capability and familiarity with energy systems and energy planning tools is an asset
o Experience with large biomass production facilities
o Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and communication skills, with an ability to interact effectively with a range of stakeholders
