Job summary
Community Moblization Officer –Livelihood the position will contribute to the implementation of ZOA funded livelihood recovery and empowerment project.
The Community Mobilization Officer will be the project’s primary representative to provide support from the start-up and throughout the project cycle management on livelihood activities
This is a field position who will be working very closely with the Livelihood Officers and is expected to spend majority of working time within the project area, locations and villages. The Community Mobilization Officer will ensure effective mobilization and engagement with the various communities on issues of Livelihoods activities.
Detailed duties and responsibilities
1) Will conduct community mobilization and awareness raising campaigns during implementation of the project in Hitsats
2) Support the Livelihood Officers in community information documentations on lessons learned in each intervention for information sharing.
3) Conduct follow-up meetings with all the targeted groups in the project which include VSLA, and business associations and DRR committees.
4) Interact on a regular basis with targeted beneficiaries with the aim of introducing and explaining each projects’ objectives, mobilize community participation and ensure it conforms to work schedules, and provide mentor-ship for community activities in regard to projects being implemented · Carry out community/project beneficiaries training with a view to creating/raising awareness and building their capacity to run implemented projects.
5) Develop and implement proactive and community participatory responses to droughts and other disasters for livelihood recovery.
6) Initiate and create sustainable strategic linkages aimed at enabling the local communities to access funding for from other instruments targeting livelihood and livestock based livelihoods.
7) Ensure that the communities are continuously involved and kept up-to-date with project developments. -
8) Perform other related duties as ordered by the program manager
III. Position Requirements
· Advanced degree in rural community development, animal science, social work/community development, and livelihood.
· At least three years experience in community mobilization and development in pastoral livelihood systems .
· Experience and understanding of NGO work experience
· Experience in the use of participatory methodologies
Experience in community training, advocacy for change and ability to inspire community economic empowerment.
· Computer literate
· Team player
