Consultancy Service for the facilitation of team building and interactive empowerment sessions during annual planning workshop/retreat
No. CON/010/2015
I. Introduction
Save the Children (SC) leads the implementation of ENGINE, the USAID flagship multi-sector nutrition project, which aims to improve the nutritional status of Ethiopian women and children through sustainable, coordinated and evidence-based interventions, enabling them to lead healthier and more productive lives. The core initiative of this large-scale, five-year project (2011-2016) is to prevent undernutrition during the first 1,000 days, from the start of pregnancy until the child is 2 years old, by focusing on social and behavior change communication (SBCC), including linkages to livelihood and economic opportunities.
ENGINE carries out annual participatory workshops to coordinate and plan its upcoming activities with its staff. The annual planning workshop is an important event where all ENGINE national, regional and zonal team converge and review the previous year’s performance, and develop plans for the next year. The upcoming annual review and planning workshop will be conducted in Debrezeit from August 19-21, 2015. A total of 160 participants will be expected during the annual planning workshop. As this is the final year of the project, the consultancy service will need to leave ENGINE staff feeling empowered with a sense of pride in the accomplishments of the past five years as well as optimistic about what is ahead despite the close-out of the project.
II. Overall Objective:
The overall objective of this consultancy work is to provide a service where the consultant will design, plan, mobilize and execute innovative empowering exercises for a large team during ENGINE annual planning workshop. The exercise should both empower staff and encourage staff to remain committed to the project through its close-out.
