Consultant Grant Professional
THIS AGREEMENT is made and entered into between All African Leprosy, TB, Rehabilitation, Research, and Training Centre (ALERT) and consultant Grant Professional.
ALERT training centre has track record of 50 years of delivering international training on leprosy, tuberculosis (TB) and tropical dermatology. Currently, this training centre has been selected as national HIV training Centre of Excellence to roll out HIV/AIDS trainings across the country especially training of trainers (TOT) programme. Since 2009, the centre has been conducting different national TOT’s on CART, TB/HIV, PMTCT and related health issues.
The training division is staffed with 2 public health specialists, 3 training specialists (1 internist, 1 paediatrician and 1 gynaecologist), 1 administrative assistant and other supportive staffs.
ALERT is referral centre for Leprosy and dermatology cases throughout the country and is the best centre for clinical leprosy and rehabilitation trainings. To strengthen the community based rehabilitation programs ALERT has organized the CBR training.
The training division of ALERT is mainly supported by different grants mainly awarded through the Minisrty of Health. Currently the training center is planning to search for grants proactively. In order to materialize this, the training center is seeking a well experienced grant professional.
To improve the grant development and management process of the ALERT training center.
-Build grant seeking capacity of the center
-Solicite RFA/RFPs relevant to the training center
-Write grant proposals and submitt applications in accordance with the released RFA/RFPs
-Design tracking mechanisms for the available grant project
-Maintain the reputation of the training center in manage project grants
There are 3 key componenets of the assignment.
1. Grant development
1.1 Grant solicitation
The consultant is expected to identify and actively search for trends in funding with respect to training in health. The deliverables of this assignment are 2 presentations and 1 report.
1.2 Positioning
The consultant is expected to analayze and interprets 10 RFA/RFPs and design 3 projects out of those analyzed.
The deliverables will be presentation of the analyzed RFA/RFPs and designed projects.
1.3 Grant propodsal writing
The consultant is expected to write grant proposals for 3 of the selected projects.
1.4 Grant application
The consultant is expected to submitt application for the three grant proposals written.
1.5 Follow up
The consulant is expected to do proper follow up of the grant applications and deliver presentation on how to do follow of grant applications.
1.6 Transition to post award
The consultant is expected to conduct one training to the training team on how to do transition to post award.
2. Grant Management.
The consultant is expected to
2.1 Design tracking meechanisms to 4 available grants
2.2 Develop one standard of practice of grant management within the context of matrix organization, where both the government and project financing is applicable
2.3 Support grant monitoing & evaluation and close out of two off-going projects.
2.4 Summarize best practices of two grants, which are closing out.
3. Coaching
The consultant is expected to demonstrate important steps of grant development and management to the host team through presentations and reports, system development.

The Individual Consultant shall not either during the term or after termination of the assignment, disclose any proprietary or confidential information related to the consultancy service without prior written consent. Proprietary interests on all materials and documents prepared by the consultants under the assignment shall become and remain properties of ALERT.
