JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Education Manger is responsible for technical leadership and management of PAGES Project Education activities. This includes provision of technical guidance and support for quality implementation of education activities of the project, developing annual, quarterly and monthly plans and periodic reports as required by the programme. S/he provides technical oversight and support to the team, including documentation of well-articulated project evidence and learning to inform project strategy as necessary.KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Technical leadership, support, assessment and overview
Master’s degree or equivalent in education, international development or a related subject.
At least 8 years of experience in technical assistance/advising in the field of education as part of a large complex project/program.
Sound understanding of the education sector in Ethiopia, including policies and strategies, the Education Sector Development programme; and policies and opportunities in the pastoralist context; experience managing basic education programmes and knowledge of gender issues relating to girls' education specifically.
Experience as an advisor or technical support with teams of different backgrounds and expertise.
Prior experience of delivering results based education or child rights programming, preferably in a socio-cultural and political context similar to Ethiopia.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills in English, with substantial experience in technical leadership of multicultural teams.
Experience of solving complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in .
Demonstrated experience of developing effective working relationships with government and nongovernmental organizations.
Experience working in the Afar Region of Ethiopia and I or other pastoralist contexts.
Previous experience of working in consortia will be beneficial.
Ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
Ability and willingness to dramatically change work practices and hours, and work with incoming surge teams, in the event of emergencies
Fluency in English, both verbal and written
