The HoA-REC&N and Wetlands International have established a partnership relation to jointly implement the Strengthening Community Resilience in Somali Region of Ethiopia (SCRSE) Project. This was a project running from mid-2014 to the end of 2016, and is implemented in a wider partnership of humanitarian, development, climate and environmental organisations. The project’s target area is the Somali Region of Ethiopia, specifically Jijiga, Gursum and Tuliguled Woredas and associated watersheds. The ultimate aim of the SCRSE is community stability and resilience through strategic interventions for food security, water security and disaster risk reduction. These will involve direct field interventions, institutional capacity building and policy advocacy for food security, water security and ecosystem rehabilitation for overall community stability and resilience.
Responsibilities and tasks
To be able to work effectively in Ethiopia, Wetlands International Africa and HoA-REC&N are looking for a Project Officer who will coordinate the field implementation of the SCRSE project activities in target Woredas of Jigjiga, Gursum and Tuliguled and represent the organization in Somali Region of Ethiopia. Under the immediate supervision of the project coordinator and working closely with SCRSE partners, the project officer will:

The successful candidate will be an Ethiopian national and a skilled technical, innovative and hands-on officer, capable of mobilizing and motivating target communities and other regional stakeholders. The candidate shall have rich skills, knowledge and experience in landscape restoration and participatory community training and capacity building. S/he will have good understanding of wetlands issues at all relevant scales and be able to profile Wetlands International as an authority in wetlands issues.
