Job Summery
The incumbent of this position represents SC values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. These values and principles include commitment to the mission of Save the Children international, team orientation, quality management and leadership development, introducing systems and procedures to strengthen staff motivation and productivity. The post holder will be responsible for overall planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring and review of food Security and livelihoods, related components of the integrated multi-sectoral approach to improve the resilience of vulnerable communities of Wag Himra Zone, Amhara Region, Ethiopia. S/he will be expected to work closely with the target communities; the project team, S/he will be responsible for the timely implementation of all the planned Food security and Livelihoods, activities as per the approved project document; and government and donor requirements and Save the Children standards
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Ensure your work plan relates closely to the regularly updated project work plan guiding the project implementation and progress towards completion.
Prepare monthly quarterly and annual activity plans, action plans for assessments, monitoring, review and quarterly and annual project reports and plans.
Undertake representation and advocacy with government partners and officials, primarily at the woreda level. In particular, ensure there is a system for networking and communication with local government partners, relevant line departments and community representations in the project area(s).
Advocate to partners for project activities and objectives, and understand the project’s contribution to wider SCI goals and objectives.
Participate and facilitate selection of beneficiaries for the programs.
Be fully aware of how far the project fulfills child rights in terms of SCI’s strategic and thematic plans. Ensure that Child Rights programming is effectively incorporated into all aspects of SCI’s work.
Comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to child protection, health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.
Participate and lead selection of beneficiaries for the different programs.
Record and monitor project activities and its process to facilitate learning, implementing monitoring and evaluation.
Work closely with community facilitators to link with communities, etc
Through field visits, provide technical advice and support to community facilitators and partners and ensure the community level data is collected, consolidated and reported on time and are well integrated in the project activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
At least 2 year relevant project management experience in an international NGO or similar organization.
Good technical knowledge of policy and practice in the field of livelihoods, income generation, marketing, Value chains development as well as other cross cutting issues
A good understanding of development issues and the policy context in the operational areas and Ethiopia generally.
Experience of managing donor(s) funded projects or programme.
Experience in developing and monitoring budgets.
Computer literate in word processing and excel packages.
An understanding of child rights and their protection and fulfillment in the development context.
