Ethiopia is a good example to other countries with respect to activities that it has been taking in reducing carbon emission.
Speaking at a three-day meeting that opened here at Gullele Botanic Garden, in connection with the climate meeting to be held in Paris, Director of Special Initiatives Division with UNECA,_ Dr. Fatima Denton said Ethiopia has demonstrated to other African countries that it is possible to bring about economic development by reducing carbon emission.
She also said the country has exceeded other African countries in the sector.
According to the director, industrialized countries are particularly expected to make better commitment by promising to reduce global temperature by two degree centigrade. The agreement would be collective but based on varying responsibilities, she added.
Dr. Fatima urged Africans to go to the meeting with integrated and concrete ideas that reflect their common desire._
“Road to Paris Regional Dialogue” will bring together state and non-state actors to discuss the kind of climate agreement needed at COP 21 which takes place in Paris in December, 2015.
