Establishment

PSD Hub is a strategic tool to the Ethiopian Business community. It has been assisting the efforts of the Ethiopian chamber system to improve the business climate and Ethiopia’s private sector development since 2005. This effort has contributed to the enhancement of the capacity of Chambers in being a positive voice for the private sector through research, advocacy and policy influence, which could result in improved policy, legal and institutional arrangements for the sector.

In the new phase of the project the PSD Hub should help ECCSA to improve its ability to:

• Represent all businesses equally well, including those that may not yet be members of the Chamber system, or which are made up of people who are disempowered and lack fair access to advocacy and representation (such as women and the poor including those engaging in the informal sector);

• Undertake all aspects of the advocacy process across all aspects of business advocacy, including data collection, research, consultation, and issue identification; and

• Support the fulfilment of capacity building requirements of all organisations in the wider advocacy system, which may include: media organisations, universities and research organisations, civil society and non-government organisations, and consulting organisations.

Hence, ECCSA/PSD-Hub phase III project focuses on two components, namely ECCSA capacity building to attain financial sustainability by focusing on its core activities of providing demand led services for business community and PSD research, policy and advocacy to the government on matters of policy and regulations that affect the ability of the Ethiopian private sector generally, and impact upon jobs and income to the poor and women more specifically.

Effective public-private dialogue that leads to regulatory and policy changes; resulting in a more conducive environment for sustainable and inclusive economic growth.
