About GIZ- Sustainable Training and Education Programme
As German organization for international development cooperation with worldwide operations, the federally owned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its development-policy objectives. GIZ promotes complex reforms and change processes in more than 80 partner countries.
 
In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors.
 
The GIZ Programme for Sustainable Training and Education (STEP) aims at improving the employment prospects of young Ethiopians by promoting more relevant and demand-oriented TVET and Higher Education. One of the programme component focuses on improving core processes and capacity development of key actors for employment oriented higher education. Main activities include but not limited to, overhauling university teaching to enhance students learning, introduction of graduate’s internship, improving career services to ensure good information and advice to students, capacitating leaders and managers of higher education systems, promoting entrepreneurship and incubation services at selected universities and internal quality management and enhancement.
