Niras-ORGUT Consortium, a leading Scandinavian consulting group contracted for the implementation of Agro-BIG, the Programme for Agro-Business Induced Growth in Amhara Region, intends to employ one National Value Chain and Capacity Building Adviser, to be based in Bahir Dar.
Agro-BIG (www.agrobig.org) is a long term bilateral development intervention in the agriculture sector funded by the Governments of Ethiopia and Finland. The overall objective of Agro-BIG is to contribute to poverty reduction through agriculture based economic growth, focussing on adding value to the agricultural produce. Agro-BIG is using the Value Chain Approach to identify constraints and opportunities along the value chains of selected agricultural commodities. Specific interventions are being supported by making finance available to the value chain actors and by strengthening the link to saving and credit facilities.
Agro-BIG operates through a Programme Support Unit (PSU), headed by a Programme Director, linked to the Bureau of Finance and Economic Development (BoFED) in Amhara Region.
