Nuru International Ethiopia is a US-based international NGO working to end extreme poverty in rural communities in Africa. Nuru’s first integrated development project in Ethiopia began in 2013 in Boreda Woreda, Gamo Gofa Zone, and SNNPR. Nuru currently works in four integrated intervention areas: Agriculture, Financial Inclusion, Healthcare and Education. All four programs work through local Grain Marketing Cooperatives. Currently, Nuru Ethiopia employs approximately 60+ staff in its headquarters in Zefine town, Boreda Woreda district.
We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Finance and Administration Director (FAD). The FAD will report directly to the Country Director and will be in charge of leading and managing all financial and administration matters of the organization in Ethiopia.
Place of work: Arba Minch, SNNPRS. But position might be required to be based in Zefine Town, Boreda Woreda for the first few months.

Terms and conditions: The appointment will be for long-term fixed employment with annual contract extensions depending on performance
Salary: ETB 30,000.00 - negotiable for highly qualified candidates
Main duties and responsibilities:
Lead and manage the NE Finance Manager, HR Officer, and Logistics and Procurement Officer
Help create, implement, and strengthen finance and administration systems within Nuru Ethiopia (NE), including Finance, Logistics, HR, Procurement, and General Administration
Advise NE Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) on all financial and administration matters
Create, improve, and enforce NE’s finance and administration policies and processes in accordance with national law to ensure NE optimizes the use of its limited resources toward ending extreme poverty
Work with Nuru International’s U.S.-based finance counterpart to ensure financial & accounting systems are efficient, transparent, and compatible with Nuru International standards
Provide timely, accurate, and high quality financial and administrative reports for the Ethiopian government, donor organizations, Nuru International and other stakeholders if necessary
Responsible for the overall financial management and monitoring of the organizations annual budget including accurate expense tracking, preparation of cashflow reports, timely reconciliation with bank accounts, etc.
Responsible for preparation of the annual budget in coordination with department directors and managers
Responsible for maintaining the organization’s budget vs. actual (BVA) report, ensuring it complies with donor expectations as well as local government requirements (e.g. 70/30 requirement)
Help establish efficient and transparent procurement processes and policies for the organization in conjunction with the Procurement and Logistics Officer
Build an effective HR system and ensure its compliance with Ethiopian law in conjunction with the HR Officer
Responsible for reporting to the Country Director (CD) on all above matters and for completion of any additional tasks as instructed by the CD
Qualifications:
Minimum of 10 years professional experience in the same field, of which at least 5 years at a senior management level, preferably in an international NGO
Minimum of BA in accounting and finance or management; MA preferred
Strong technical abilities and up to date knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and local financial regulations
Internationally recognized Accounting Qualification (CA, ACCA, CIMA, and CPA) is highly desirable but not required
Knowledge of and experience with HR and procurement systems
The ability to operate independently and make concrete changes and contributions to the administrative systems of Nuru Ethiopia
Experience with and familiarity of Ethiopian government reporting requirements and labour laws

Structured, organized with the ability to multi-task and support and/or fill multiple positions at one time
Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to follow procedures, and work both independently and cooperatively with team members
Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and accounting software (QuickBooks or Peachtree). Advanced Excel skills for data analysis is required
