Job Summary:
To improve the Water and Sanitation condition of the target beneficiaries, the WATSAN Officer will be primarily responsible to design, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate Islamic Relief’s WATSAN Project in coordination with the Senior Woreda Program Officer. He/she is ultimately responsible for getting projects are accomplished as per plan and conditions.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ensure water, Sanitation, hygiene project interventions are implemented according to standards, policies and procedures of the organization and donor;
2. Prepare standards designs, bill of quantities and tender documents as deemed necessary;
3. Actively play a role towards community empowerment through community mobilization strategies and approaches, design operational strategies for community participation as working committees, women group, youth group etc.
4. Works closely with zonal and Woreda administrations and water sector officials so as to establish conducive working environment, promote transparency, ensure support of sector offices, increase stakeholder participation
5. Prepare project annual and quarterly action plans and budget, when approved implement to achieve intended objectives, outputs, activities and targets;
6. Coordinate and manage the IR water, sanitation and hygiene promotion in the area.
7. Ensure that activities and targets are achieved through regular monitoring and supervision;
8. Prepare and submit regular project reports to IR Country Office and Project Coordinator
9. Provide project personnel with technical backup through, mentoring and coaching in the area of project action plan setting, implementation, and monitoring and coordinating evaluation exercises;
10. Prepare and organize project area basic secondary data to achieve Woreda profiles and indicators;
11. Provide information to project staff and, zonal and Woreda government offices about project amendments, project activity revisions and rescheduling;
12. Manage project staff performance and development under his/her supervision;
13. Perform other functions as requested by Project Coordinator.
