BBC Media Action is the international development charity of the BBC. Established in 1998, the organization seeks to reduce poverty and provide information to people around the world, through media programmes that inspire and inform. Since its foundation, BBC Media Action has worked in developing and transitional countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe on projects that deal with issues of health, resilience, governance, education, environment, livelihoods and emergency response.
Funded by the Government of Norway, BBC Media Action has implemented a one year project in rural Oromia, since January 2016. The project aimed at increasing awareness about the harmful health effects of indoor air pollution and addressing barriers to practical actions that families can take to reduce exposure to the harmful health effectsof current indoor cooking and heating practices.
