Background
The Government of Ethiopia has received financial support from the World Bank to undertake Statistics for Results (SFR) project aims to strengthen the Central Statistics Agency’s (CSA) institutional capacity to produce and disseminate reliable and timely statistics in a cost-effective manner in accordance with international standards and in response to user needs.
The project has several components, which include:
Component 1: Organizational and Infrastructure Capacity Development in the National Statistics System,
Component 2: Statistical Data Development and Management
Component 3: Statistical Methodology, Standards and Data Quality Assurance and Information Dissemination
Component 4: Monitoring and Evaluation
The SFR project, under the auspices of CSA, is responsible for the administration of the project fund which need considerable efforts to plan, implement, follow-up and reporting the results. For the effective implementation of the project’s procurement activities, PIU seeks to hire an individual on the Assistant Procurement Specialist position under the supervision of the senior procurement specialist on technical matters and under the Project Coordinator on overall matters.
Objective
The objective of this post is to provide SFR-PIU with the procurement capacity and to effectively process procurement activities under the project. This will contribute to the success of the project as a whole

Under the overall guidance of SFR-PIU coordinator and under close supervision of the senior procurement specialist of the project, the assistant procurement specialist will assist in preparation of the procurement plan and a range of procurement related activities and periodic reports, assist in the evaluation of tenders, awarding contracts, follow-up their implementation and document the results.
