Position Summary: Maintaining all the medical equipment and inspection of electrical installation.
Duties and Responsibilities: the job description may be changed as deemed appropriate by Girum Hospital.
Ø Perform planned preventive maintenance (PPM) based on approved PPM procedures;
Ø Perform demand service repairs on medical equipment based on requests from the various departments of the hospital;
Ø Inspection of electrical installation of medical devices;
Ø Inspection, installation and configuration of newly coming medical instruments into the hospital;
Ø Keeping records of maintenance activities and preparing life history of each equipment;
Ø Operate specialized test-equipment in troubleshooting, calibrating and maintaining medical devices;
Ø Provide end users training on the safe and proper use of equipment;
Ø Assists in the pre-purchase evaluation of medical equipment;
Ø Developing equipment, manual and parts inventory of the hospital;
Ø Identification of spare parts required for each equipment;
Ø Preparing and presenting work and financial budget plans of the hospital regarding maintenance, installation and decommissioning of medical instruments;

Ø Be very informed about the hospital service and clearly communicate it when asked by a patient;
Ø Take excellent care of our equipment and make sure it is not touched or handled by inappropriately trained personnel;
Ø We should exhibit proper phone etiquette;
Ø Never criticize one another in front of a patient nor try to pass a blame to another departments or colleagues in any situation as every one of us shares the same obligation to satisfy our patient need;
Ø Give constructive criticism to a colleague or subordinate promptly but off course in a private room…depending on the situation you may also get another colleague involved;
Ø Respect the hospital dress code (uniform), be well groomed and maintain good hygiene;
Ø Maintain patient confidentiality;
Ø Avoid talking on your cell phone for personal matter while with a patient; if work related please excuse yourself and inform patient that the call was work related;
Ø Be willing to assist patients and colleagues promptly when they seek your help;
Ø Strive to continuously improve your skills and knowledge and attend all required training;
Ø Avoid chewing gum while on duty;
Ø Maintain a clean working environment;
Ø Do NOT go to another department to talk about non-work related things;
Ø Strive to provide a level of service that exceeds patients’ expectations whenever possible;
Ø Have a positive attitude and let’s all avoid being defensive;
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
Ø Degree in biomedical engineering
Ø From 0 to 2 years of experience in maintaining medical equipment’s
Ø Organizational skill and computer application are assets.
