. Purpose of the Job:
Amref Health Africa would like to recruit a Project Assistant for its El Nino Emergency Response Interventions - Afar Regional State.
The main purpose of the job is to facilitate the procurement and distribution of supplementary feeding items for the population affected by the El Nino crises in Afar. The job holders will be based in Afar regional state and reports to the WASH Program Manager/Project Manager and Afar Regional focal person.
Key Responsibilities:
· Identify supplementary food items and follow up distributions to beneficiaries
· Follow-up transportation including temporarily storing at the regional/ zonal/woreda offices
· Including formal hand-over to government entities with the use of standardized ‘government models’; ensure targeted and end-user distribution of the supplementary food items and reporting.
· Participate on the respective WASH, Nutrition and Health cluster meetings and provide regular situation updates
· Facilitate and provide technical support for the implementation of Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia’s Nutrition/WASH project which mainly focuses on addressing the El Nino crises
· Ensure implementation of the project in collaboration with the government stakeholders and beneficiaries.
· Provide targeted technical assistance to projects through field visits.
· Ensure project implementation in line with Amref Health Africa’s organizational objective and government policy, strategies and guidelines.
· Planning and Facilitation of timely procurement of goods and services for projects;
· Prepare and submit timely the monthly and quarterly quality reports to the Program/project manager.
· Prepare work plan and cash advance request
· Work with the project accountant, M and E Officer and procurement officers to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in resource utilization.
· Actively participate in emergency situation assessments
· participate forums with partner meetings
· Gather, compile and disseminate case stories from the field
EXPERIENCE
· More than 4 years relevant experience in emergency nutrition preferably in Afar context.
· Practical experience in Emergency Nutrition
· Project and NGO experience
Competencies:
· Proficiency in MS applications and navigating the internet
