PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
The Sustainable Undernutrition Reduction in Ethiopia (SURE) is the first Government-led multi-sectoral nutrition program implemented mainly by the integrated actions of health and agriculture sectors at all levels and to the community. The program is financially supported by the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) and is primarily aiming at reducing chronic under nutrition (stunting) through ensuring optimal complimentary feeding practices and dietary diversity among children under five years of age. The program is to be delivered within the current and future national Community-Based Nutrition (CBN) Programme of the existing extension platforms of the country. SURE addresses these complimentary feeding challenges through Multi sectoral nutrition actions, robust SBCC and nutrition sensitive agriculture interventions in the Oromiya, Amhara, SNNPR and Tigray regions of the country.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Zonal Cluster Coordinator & woreda Nutrition Focal will be responsible for leading all the program activities in assigned woreda as well He/she will coordinate and supervise the activates of the cluster woreda nutrition coordinators within the zone. She/he will support zonal health departments and woreda health offices as well as agriculture offices on matters of nutrition/nutrition sensitive agriculture initatives. The coordinator will timely collect, compile and analyze all technical nutrition reports from the cluster woredas on monthly, quarterly and annual bases and submit to the regional advisor/s as well as to the zonal health and agriculture bureaus.
She/he will provide guidance to the health and agriculture extension workers with in the assigned woreda in order to achieve, monitoring, document and reporting of the program. Ensuring overall appropriateness and quality of the SURE program components delivered at the grass root level. The coordinator will spend considerable time in the field supporting, providing technical backstopping and monitoring extension workers, farmer groups, mothers’ groups and other beneficiaries of the program for effective implementation of activities
The position holder will also be responsible for ensuring maximum possible integration for the program delivery between the health and agriculture sectors for nutrition and joint delivery of the SURE’s activities at all levels of zone, woreda and kebele.
Carry out and facilitate monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual joint (with woreda health and agriculture office) program performance review meeting and prepare feedback and action plan based on the identified gaps.
