CALL FOR INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT OR TRAINER TO FACILITATE SKILLS TRAINING ON MAKING ON MENSTRUAL HYGIENE MATERIALS
The IRC is a non-Governmental humanitarian organization working world wide to serve refugees and communities victimized by oppression, natural disaster and violent conflicts. The IRC has been working in Ethiopia since 2000 and is currently working in eight Regional States of Ethiopia.
Among the many projects implemented by the IRC, is an OFDA/USAID funded WASH Rapid Response Capacity in Ethiopia which includes Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) interventions in three woredas, Amegna, Jeju and Hitosa, in Arsi Zone of Oramia Region and one woreda, Ahferom in Tigray Region.
As part of implementation of MHM activities, the IRC would like to hire a professional individual consultant who will, jointly with IRC staff, facilitate skills training of rural school going girls and selected women group in practical making of MHM materials (sanitary pads) utilizing locally available materials to make re-usable sanitary pads. The professional individual consultant should have demonstrated experience in production of such sanitary pads and will be required to showcase production as part of the hiring process.
Objective
The overall objective of the Training of Trainer is to capacitate the skill of rural school girls and selected women groups on design and production of locally made MHM sanitary pad who thereafter will be expected to engage in production of affordable pads as well as train more girls and women.
Scope of the work
The professional individual consultant is expected to facilitate two practical training sessions each lasting three days (excluding travel time), One in Tigray (Ahferom) and another in Arsi Zone. Exact venues will be determined in the course of time, before the hiring process is completed.
Competency and expertise requirements
Should have minimum certificate in any field of study and a wide-range of experience with in related skill areas especially in providing similar trainings both theoretical and practical sessions. Knowledge of Afan Oromo and/or Tigrigna languages is an asset.
