Invitation for Consultancy Service to Conduct Entrepreneurship, Business Development and ICT Skills Training for MasterCard Foundation Scholars at FAWE Ethiopia
Background
Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) is a Nairobi based Pan-African non-governmental organization with affiliating National Chapters working in 34 African countries. FAWE was founded in 1992 by five prominent women Ministers and Deputy Ministers of Education to advocate for gender equality and equity in education in Africa. FAWE envisions a world in which gender disparities in education are eliminated and all African girls have uninhibited access to education, stay until completion, and perform well. FAWE Ethiopia Chapter is a member of FAWE Regional Network and works to replicate the FAWE Africa cause in Ethiopia.
The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program is a 10-year initiative to educate and prepare young people – particularly from Africa – to lead change and make a positive social impact in their communities. The Scholars Program provides young people from economically disadvantages communities who have demonstrated academic talent and leadership potential with access to quality and relevant education. The Program supports 800 (600 female and 200 male) bright yet disadvantaged students with the comprehensive scholarships and empowerment. The Program supports Scholars throughout secondary education (grade 9-12) and aspire to see them successfully transit into higher education and eventually into the workforce.
The MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program at FAWE Ethiopia is implemented at Amhara, Oromia, SNNP regions and Addis Ababa City administration. The partner schools in each region are: Bashwam Secondary and Preparatory School and Millennium Secondary and Preparatory School in Addis Ababa; Bahir Dar Academy and Tana Haik Secondary and Preparatory School in Bahir Dar; Nafyad Secondary and Preparatory School and Goro Secondary and Preparatory School in Adama; and Debub Academy and Tabor Secondary and Preparatory School in Hawassa.
Currently, 400 Scholars are being supported by the Program and FAWE Ethiopia is working to instill the following values in Scholars to make sure that they become the next generation of leaders committed to giving back to their communities: vision, courage, integrity, empathy, community service, give-back, change making, and global mindset.
