About Reach for Change
Reach for Change is a global organisation that was founded in Sweden in 2010 by the Kinnevik Group and Sara Damber. We find and develop Change Leaders – local social entrepreneurs with innovations that improve the lives of children, women and youth. The entrepreneurs are helped to scale their innovations through seed funding, access to technical and managerial expertise and networking opportunities. Launched in Ethiopia in 2015, Reach for Change has supported 45 social entrepreneurs so far to deepen their social impact and become financially sustainable.
Position Summary
Reach for Change seeks a Technical Expert to lead its startup support program (its ‘Accelerator Program’) and development of the Ethiopia Social Entrepreneurship Forum. We are seeking someone who is smart, brave and passionate, has an entrepreneurial mindset and cares deeply about improving the lives of children, youth and women. S/he has experience in the nonprofit and/or business world in Ethiopia and has a strong administrative background, particularly in organising and facilitating events. S/he has an outgoing personality that can drive engagement across all sections of society. The Startup Support Technical Expert has an entrepreneurial spirit, is a strategic thinker, focuses on tangible results, has a collaborative “can do” attitude and a desire for continuous improvement. The Technical Expert will be responsible for managing the planning, development and implementation of the Accelerator Program, a six month intensive support program with a tried and tested training curriculum which enables aspiring social entrepreneurs to develop pilot projects. In addition to this they will be responsible for the day to day running of the Ethiopia Social Entrepreneurship Forum, a network of organisations, individuals and institutions who are committed to driving the social entrepreneurship sector forward. Together with the Country Manager, s/he will be responsible for developing and delivering a strategy to drive policy engagement and training events through the forum. The Technical Expert is used to the pressure of high-profile projects, and can effectively work with colleagues at all levels of the organization, whilst managing expectations of all parties and making sure to meet deadlines and other requirements.
Based in the Addis office, Ethiopia, and reporting to the Country Manager, the Technical Expert will support the Ethiopia team in their implementation of our programs.
