In relation to the startup of a new Emergency Response project in rural East Haraghe Zone aiming at providing drinking water to drought affected children and families with or without disabilities, HI international is seeking a dedicated and qualified person to take up the position as Hygiene Promotion Training Officer.
Terms of employment: Temporary (3 months)Under the guidance and supervision of the Project Manager, the Hygiene Promotion Officer will be responsible for ensuring a coherent, comprehensive program implementation in accordance with implementing plans in collaboration with implementing partners, authorities, and actors within the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) field in East Haraghe.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
ü Liaise with community leaders, water committees, HEW, local authorities, working in the implementation area.
ü Train and follow up the work of HEW, in order for them to carry out hygiene promotion activities according to the project’s logical framework, ensuring that all hygiene promotion program activities are carried out.
ü Ensure that hygiene promotion awareness activities are carried out by the HEWs according to the weekly plan, including a variety of communication channels and tools, such as hygiene promotion campaigns, focus group discussions, awareness sessions at various places (schools, tap stands, community centers, etc.
ü Ensure that all segments of the community have the possibility to participate in the hygiene promotion program.
ü Ensure that the hygiene promotion activities are designed and implemented in a way that is sensitive to disability, gender, vulnerable people, protection, HIV, the environment, and other important cross-cutting concerns.
Education: Degree in Public Health or related discipline
Experience: 3 years of relevant work experience in hygiene promotion with an NGO or with public sector
Essential:
ü Experience inhygiene and sanitation projects
ü Experience in conducting trainings
ü Experience in participatory project processes
ü English language and Afan Oromo skill
Desired:
ü Experience in the field of disability inclusion
ü Work experience with emergency response projects is a plus
