BACKGROUND
Christian Horizons - Ethiopia (CHE) is an International Non- Government Organization for Charity and Development, and is serving persons with exceptional needs in Oromia National Regional state since 1992. From the small beginnings of caring for six orphans living in a group setting from Asella town, the organization has been operating its services to Arsi, Bale, and West Arsi Zones.
CHE's Mission is “Serving the Person with Exceptional Needs”. CHE is independent, with no religious, political or governmental affiliations and is an equal opportunity employer. CHE funds arise from individual giving and grant donations from churches through CH Global-Canada.
CHE has made multi disciplinary project agreements on various thematic issues with Oromiya Regional and Zonal Bureau/Offices of Finance and Economic Development, Ministry of Education and, Women and Children Affairs. The project is guided by our thematic programmatic work in the areas of children’s services, basic education, adult literacy, adult and youth skills training, Special needs education, self help saving and credit group (SHSCG) promotions in its nominated districts in Arsi and Bale Zones.
The Horizons Academy is a property of CHE that is established as a business entity according to the FDRE Charities and Societies Agency proclaimation number 621/2001, Article 103, The Academy is established with the prpose of of generating local income to support the charity projects with its from its profit.
Horizons Academy is a young academy with only 10 months since its establishment in September 2016. Beyond generating local income through collection of revenues from tution fee, the academy strives to become a
resource and learning center for other public and private schools by introducing new approaches child development methods and delivery of quality education integrated with technology and moral values.
As an input the aspiration, the management of CHE has believed in recruiting able, skillful and visionay education leader (Principal) to put the Horizons Academy (HA) on the right track for its journey towards equipping courageous, ethical, hopeful and visionary generations.
FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
The Principal directly reports to CHE’s Deputy Executive Director, he/she also works closely with the Exectuive
Director and other subordinates, and collaborates with partners.
JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of the Principal position is to to ensure that design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of all curriculums are in accordance with HA’s mission, strategic objectives and program approaches. In collaboration with the his/her team, she/he develops plans for enhancing the academy’s capacity to carry out its development plan and to draw lessons for increasing generational impact and sustainability. She/he establishes and maintains effective working relationships with key government partners and CBOs/CSOs/FBOs, Private & Government Institutions and Associations working in the same geographic areas with the similar values.
