Program /Department Summary
The Pastoralist Areas Resilience Improvement and Market Expansion (PRIME) SBCC advisor primary responsibility is to work with IR5 acting leader to provide reliable and timely technical input, contribute to development of relevant knowledge/structures to inform the underlying causes of malnutrition and provide leadership to the PRIME field nutrition team to deliver sound, harmonized SBCC approach, efficient and high impact activities for improved nutrition outcomes.
The SBCC advisor would be based in Addis Ababa office with frequent travel to PRIME operational areas in Somali, Afar and Oromia region (Borena and Guji).
REPORT DIRECTLY TO: PRIME Nutrition/ IR5 acting leader
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
· Conduct barrier analysis and based on the findings and other research findings suggest new areas of SBCC strategies and content for both the immediate causes of nutrition and underlying causes, such as maternal/child nutrition, household income, household decision making for and design SBCC through suggestion and advice from designated audience groups, the nutrition team and the production team and different partners.
· Develop and maintain harmonious relationship with partner organization, line ministries and audience groups.
· Closely support the SOSC serial drama implementation, monitoring of its impact.
· Technically support the nutrition implementing partners and sub-grantees in their nutrition SBCC implementations to contribute for higher impact of the overall PRIME program.
· Support the nutrition acting IR5 leader in developing quarter and annual reports of the nutrition components
· Closely support the afar cluster nutrition and SBCC activities being implemented by CARE as additional roles of FLA from both remote and frequent travels as required.
· Play liaising roles with the governments at federal and regional levels for the issues related to nutrition sensitive activities and issues.
· Work any other related actives assigned by the nutrition technical advisor as needed
· Develop tools and guidelines for monitoring the SBCC activities, capacitate field team, regularly mentors, evaluate the impact of SBCC activities for learning and future programing
