The European Union Business Forum in Ethiopia (EUBFE) aims to facilitate operations for EU companies doing business in Ethiopia through: (i) improving the exchange of information about the Ethiopian business and regulatory environment; (ii) developing a platform for networking and forging business links between EU companies; and (iii) facilitating dialogue with the Ethiopian authorities.
The role of the Executive Director is to support the daily activities of the EUBFE and to implement decisions taken by EUBFE’s Board.

Description of main activities:
1.Dialogue and Advocacy
a) Public-Private Dialogue
The Executive Director helps organising and participates in the various official Public-Private dialogues that the EUBFE holds with the Ethiopian administration such as the Investment Policy Dialogue with the Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) and the Steering Committee with the Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority (ERCA). The Executive Director brings forward and defends the interests of the European business community in a constructive manner.
b) Consultations, meetings, events
The Executive Director organises consultations, meetings and events with the aim of improving the business climate in Ethiopia by facilitating an open and transparent dialogue on policy making between representatives of the Ethiopian administration, experts, consultants and EUBFE members. This may include but is not limited to the organisation of informative cocktails, conferences, workshops, formal meetings and job fairs. In addition, the Executive Director takes care of all correspondence to members, enquires on a regular basis about topics of interest, challenges faced, needs for services from members and acts consequently. The Executive Director meets regularly with existing and potential members.
2. Day-to-day management of the EUBFE
a) Written material / correspondence
The Executive Director is in charge of all relevant written materials shared with EUBFE’s members and stakeholders. This may include letters, e-mails, agendas, minutes, brochures and newsletters. The Executive Director also supports the publication of any official EUBFE documents.
b) Budgeting and bookkeeping
The Executive Director, together with EUBFE’s accountant and treasurer, ensures that all general accounting is updated with accuracy and on a timely basis. The Executive Director is also responsible for proper billing, recording of dues and for maintaining all membership files. In addition, the Executive Director prepares and presents the budget to the Board annually and is in charge of keeping in line with the approved budget.
c) Board meetings and follow-ups
The Executive Director organises the Board meetings and supports the Board, and its Chairman, in the preparation of the points at the Agenda. The Executive Director is also responsible for taking minutes and for transcribing those minutes. The Executive Director makes sure that decisions taken by the Board are implemented efficiently.
d) Website maintenance and social media
The Executive Director maintains and updates EUBFE’s website on a regular basis. The Executive Director shall also build an online presence for the EUBFE, notably through the use of social medias such as LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter.
e) Any other activity in support of the EUBFE
3. EUBFE’s sustainability and strategy
a) Fundraising
The Executive Director participates in the identification of potential sponsors, donors and partners and in the research of grants and subsidies aimed at funding EUBFE’s activities.
b) Membership
The Executive Director actively works towards increasing the membership base of the EUBFE in order to ensure better representation and to improve financial stability.
c) Strategy
