Aged and Children Pastoralists Association (ACPA) is a local organization established in 2008 by a group of Pastoral intellectuals and registered with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia with Reg. No: 0358. It aims to support all marginalized pastoralists and mainly “Ageing and Children” to improve their economic growth potentiality to overcome livelihood demands. Among the thematic areas of ACPA includes livelihood, climate change adaptation, education, WASH and emergency interventions. Presently ACPA does it is head office in Addis Ababa and operational offices in Siti, Fafan, Dawa and Liben (Southern Hub) and Dollo zones of Somali Region of Ethiopia;
1. The position holder will coordinate closely with the relevant sector office and members of the community by , planning , coordinating & implementing project activity related to range land rehabilitation and management activities both at house hold and communal level
2. In consultation with the community and relevant partners design and introduce a sustainable range land management pertinent to the level of understanding of the community.
3. Explore indigenous knowledge on range management and share with the government partners and community on range land management and NRM.
4. Enhance local capacities of government partners and community representatives on participatory range land management through providing training and running pilot learning cases , Address the social issues of range land management (community organization , norms, bylaws etc) in relation to technically feasible range land management practices document and share good practices in the area of range land management.
5. Developing and refining the livelihood strategies of the project that best fits to the targeted members of the community.
6. S/he will be fully responsible for the implementation of agriculture and livestock based income generation program. Co-ordinate with district level line agencies and develop linkage of the women groups to create synergy.
7. He/She will be responsible for identification and registration of beneficiary households for the livelihoods
8. Participate in the baseline survey and other data collection.
9. He/She will regularly monitor the activities at the distribution level and off-site with households.
10. He/She will assess the needs through household surveys and focus groups discussions.
11. Responsible to carry out community training on sector-specific issues and
community awareness rising through community meetings.
12. Make community awareness on the optimum combination of animals, size of herds, and conservation of vegetation and soil for maximum production without destroying the ecology of an area.
13. Make awareness to the community in timber production, outdoor recreation, erosion control, and fire prevention.
14. Work with Woreda line department to identify the opportunities existing in the project intervention area and how to link them on livelihood asset building and value chain activities.
15. Work with your relevant output advisor, Project Manager to identify ways to provide support to the livelihood business entities in developing business plan etc.
16. Sort out where the livestock and livestock products value chain has issues and develop strategies to address them in consultation with the project manager.
17. Provide technical support to target communities or actors during the implementation of the project activities.
18. Using the monitoring and evaluation system developed monitor project outcome on the targeted communities as well as collect best practice to be documented.
