Aged and Children Pastoralists Association (ACPA) is a local organization established in 2008 by a group of Pastoral intellectuals and registered with the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia with Reg. No: 0358. It aims to support all marginalized pastoralists and mainly “Ageing and Children” to improve their economic growth potentiality to overcome livelihood demands. Among the thematic areas of ACPA includes livelihood, climate change adaptation, education, WASH and emergency interventions. Presently ACPA does it is head office in Addis Ababa and operational offices in Siti, Fafan, Dawa and Liben (Southern Hub) and Dollo zones of Somali Region of Ethiopia
Purpose of the position:
To supervise Partnership for Resilience project in Dawa zone and oversee DRR related work and Development projects, including Area Development Programs.
The Project Manager will provide strategic leadership and guidance to the project officers and other project staff in the implementation and achievement of project objectives. The position will be responsible for ensuring the quality of programming by setting up appropriate structures, standards, staffing, management and resources and ensuring that policies are adhered to and correspond to the standards set by the NGOs. This position will be required to oversee project implementation and finances of multiple support office and understand the requirements of various donors in this regard.
Major Responsibilities:
Develop and oversee operational and management plans for resilience activities and ensure that the program is up-to-date on the implementation, ensure the full cycle of the project implementation and adherence to the design documents.
Provide technical advice to PfR program on how to build the resilience of communities to disaster and climate change in local programs.
Provide support to all the field officers on commodity management and Review the distribution plans post distribution reports to ensure compliance with the partnership standards.
Support in Management Of implementation teams and oversee random distributions during field visits
Oversee regular reporting as per the donor requirements and standards
Oversee efficient budget management and coordinate financial management aspects with the grant manager responsible for the program
Develop/maintain relationships with government officials, donors, partners, NGOs, community groups and community
Represent resilience programs with donors, government, and others.
Maintain quality through compliance with ACPA and international humanitarian standards. Ensure Humanitarian Accountability, protection, and gender mainstreaming
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
University degree in DRR and Sustainable Development, Development Studies, Social Studies, Economics, Statistics or other related fields
5 years or more experience of relief and development work.
Experience of assessment, planning, and implementation of development and emergency programmes.
Commitment to implementing ACPA’s vision and mission at all levels and in all aspects of the programme.
Good management experience
Relevant teamwork experience and good interpersonal skills. Ability to work sensitively with people from a variety of cultural and social backgrounds.
Self-motivated with excellent time management skills.
Good command of English and Somali
Environment / Conditions:
· Work environment: Office-based with frequent travel to the field
· Travel: 10% Domestic/international travel is required.
· On call: 5%
