European Commission awarded a grant for save the children entitled Create Enabling and Supportive Environment for Children in Six wordas of East Gojam and North Wollo Zones in Amhara Region.
The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the realization of an enabling and supportive environment for children at family, community and school levels in the Amhara Region of Ethiopia. The actual project implementation started on 15th January 2015 and ends 14th of January 2018.
The project interventions mainly focus on establishing and strengthening adequate and responsive systems/structures in the school and community settings, supporting referral mechanisms, enhancing the knowledge and skills on child protection concerns among children and adult community members. The project is designed to specifically address child protection concerns through: School, Community and Family based interventions and Coordination with government stakeholders. With direct prevention and response services, the project targeted to reach 30,000 in and out-of-school children and 600 teachers, school principals and others by targeting 60 schools; 1200 para-social workers, 3600 community members and 1200 parents and caretakers by targeting around 60 kebeles in six Woredas (namely Awabel, Gozamen, Basiliben, Aneded, Habru and Raya Kobo). While working with relevant government bodies, a total of 800 government officials/experts targeted to directly reach through various activities.
The project is implemented in partnership with Bureau of Women and Children Affairs (BoWCA) and local implementing partners namely FC and ANPPCAN. Along with BoWCA, FC and ANPPCAN are implemented the project in four districts of East Gojam and two districts of North Wollo zones respectively.
Therefore as the project approaches to its end, Save the Children would like to work with experienced consultancy firm to document best practice and success story of the project both in electronics and hard copies. Documenting the best practices and success stories of the project helps for future project designing and implementation. Thus, this term of reference (TOR) is prepared to guide the consultancy assignments.
