In Ethiopia, CRS has a long and rich history of providing emergency relief and development assistance to the people of Ethiopia since 1958. At present, CRS/Ethiopia implements multiple projects through different partner organizations. CRS/Ethiopia has a highly diverse portfolio currently focusing on community-based food and livelihood security through activities in agriculture, health, peacebuilding, WASH, emergency relief, and savings and lending. CRS is active in nearly all regions of Ethiopia: Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR), Somali, Benishangul Gumuz, Afar, and Dire Dawa Regions.

Purpose of the Position:
CRS Ethiopia is seeking an Officer, Gender for the Ethiopian Livelihoods and Resilience Program (ELRP) and also called Development Food Security Activity/DFSA/, a five-year USAID Office for Food for Peace (FFP). ELRP/DFSA will focus on building resilience to shocks, enhancing livelihoods and improving food security and nutrition for rural households vulnerable to food insecurity. CRS seeks to hire Diredwas based officer to support local implementing partner Hararghe Catholic Secretariat. The Gender Officer (GO) position contributes to the expectations of CRS/Ethiopia’s Strategic Plan, CRS Ethiopia’s Gender Strategy and Action Plan, and CRS‘ Global Gender Strategy through ensuring equality of women, men, girls and boys, at all operational levels. The position will contribute to the Country Program’s (CP) efforts toward quality design and implementation of gender initiatives to ‘promote right relationships’ among targeted ‘families and communities’. The GO will take primary responsibility to advocate for greater attention to gender perspectives, by providing the necessary technical support in gender mainstreaming.
