CARITAS Switzerland (CACH) has been working in Ethiopia for more than 30 years. Currently CACH cooperates with four partners in Ethiopia. Recently, CACH has successfully been registered as an International Non-Government Organization in Ethiopia and has therefore become operational at project implementation level. CACHs main working fields are: the field of agricultural development and food security, WASH as well as supporting and implementing emergency and relief operations. Our current working areas are in Tigray, southern and Eastern Oromia and in the Somali Region. CACH supports and implements currently about ten projects in these regions.
Summary of Duties:
The job holder has the overall responsibility to provide technical assistance and expertise with reference to feasibility planning, design, construction, supervision and monitoring. The incumbent supports in re-porting and n the evaluation of requirements as well as in coordination of hardware related activities, ensuring high quality and consistency of work. He/she will also be responsible to do various tasks like design reviews, preparation of terms of reference, contract document preparations, construction supervision and monitoring of WASH, small scale irrigation and Dam constructions. Generally, He/She will be acting as a roving engineer for all projects providing support to junior team members or own staff and partners’ staffs in ensuring knowledge transfer for capacity development. This post is subject to very frequent field travels (approx. 70%) in different parts of Ethiopia.
Main Areas of Responsibility:
Duty station will be decided upon recruitment of staff, but a strong operational base will be in Addis Ababa. The candidate must be ready to undertake frequent field trips to project sites.
