Job Purpose Summary
To supervise a day to day implementation of the Youth Education Pack (YEP) and Accelerated Education program (AEP) Projects in Mai-Ayni, Adi-Harush and Hitstas refugee camps. Education project officer should work closely with the Education Project Coordinator and provide technical support in education programming, planning, implementing, sensitizing, liaising as well as coordinating with stockholders. The post is also responsible for preparing reports and organizing training for YEP and AEP Center Administrators, Teachers and trainers.
Roles & Responsibilities:
General responsibilities:
The generic responsibilities of the Education Project Officer include:
· Implement delegated YEP & AEP project portfolio according to plan of action;
· Prepare and develop status reports as required by management;
· Ensure proper filing of documents;
Specific responsibilities:
· The Officer should work closely with the Project Coordinator on all aspects of the project implementation;
· In collaboration with the M&E unit, produce timely project monitoring reports;
· Identifying training needs of teachers/instructors and monitoring of them in the YEP & AEP Methodology;
· Coordination of activities within and between YEP & AEP Centers;
· Collecting and compiling monthly reports from teachers, trainers and Center Administrators;
· Assist in compiling the monthly report to be submitted to the M & E officer and the area manager;
· Any additional tasks assigned by the line supervisors
Qualifications, Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience
Professional competencies
· A University Degree in Education with minimum of 3 years relevant experience in planning, managing, coordinating, and supervising educational projects such as youth education pack and teacher training
· Experience from working as a Project Officer or Project Assistant in a humanitarian/recovery context
· Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
· Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
· Fluency in English, both written and verbal
· Demonstrated understanding of the education policy and practices in Ethiopia,
· Demonstrated high level of conceptual and analytical thinking skills and excellent strategic programme development skills in areas of Activity Based Learning and teacher training.
· Skilled trainer with experience developing and delivering training to a varied audience, such as teachers, community educators, national staff and authorities.
· A firm grounding in program activity Monitoring and Evaluation,
Strong proposal and project report-writing and team building experience and skills
