The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Global Health Supply Chain Program- Procurement and Supply Management project (GHSC-PSM) works to ensure an uninterrupted supply of health commodities in support of U.S. government-funded public health initiatives around the world including Ethiopia. The project provides direct procurement and supply chain management support to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), the President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI), and USAID’s family planning and reproductive health programs. To support U.S. government-funded global health activities, Global Health Supply Chain Program - Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) manages a wide array of health commodity procurement services and provides related systems-strengthening technical assistance encompassing all elements of a comprehensive supply chain.
As part of its continued efforts to strengthen the health system of the country, GHSC-PSM will provide the necessary support and coordinate with the Ethiopian Pharmaceutical Association (EPA) to conduct three independent national assessments: Quality of Pharmacy Education in Ethiopia, Pharmacy Workforce in Ethiopia, and Pharmacy Professional Ethics in Ethiopia. The goal of these assessments is to generate reliable and current evidence on the quality of pharmacy education, situation of pharmacy workforce, and pharmacy professional ethics to inform policy makers and program implementers with the objective of improving health care service delivery of the country. Accordingly, GHSC-PSM plans to recruit 40 data collectors and 10 supervisors who will be responsible for the data collection of these national assessments in close collaboration with lead and co-assessors, EPA, GHSC PSM and the technical committee.
