Private Coffee processing stations Capacity Building
· Deliver sustainability training (in Sustainability Standard Overview, Social responsibility, Occupational Health and Safety, environmental responsibility, Economic Transparency), to BA’s and support delivery to clients.
· Assist in development of site specific environmental plans for existing and new coffee wet mills and hulling stations. Work with Cooperative BAs to ensure these plans are implemented.
· Perform sustainability standards regular audits at each dry/wet mill during the season, with the Cooperative BA and Coop staff. Work together with Cooperative BAs and client to produce an action plan based on the audit.
Support new/ ongoing Market system research activities
· Follow-up implementation of new and ongoing market system facilitative interventions;
· Support Market Analyst in evaluating and proposing opportunities for partnership with a wide array of market system stakeholders;
· Collaborate with other project team members to leverage their existing relationships with farmers, farmer organizations (cooperatives, unions, etc.), government agencies across various levels, agribusinesses, other buyers, financial institutions, and other market system stakeholders for the purpose of market systems research, analysis, and business strategy and project intervention design;
· Submit weekly reports to the Market Analyst and support impact monitoring and evaluation activities
· Where applicable, collaborate with project Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant Officer on data collection related to monitoring and evaluating market system interventions;
Support Stakeholder Relationship Management
· Create a good working relationship with stakeholders.
· Hold meetings with Agricultural Development and administration offices of the appropriate Wereda’s once every quarter.
§ Meet with woreda leaders and Agricultural Development and administration offices to give progress report every quarter.
§ Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Business Advisor.
Report, Communicate and Share Learnings
§ Submit BA weekly work plan – details when BA will attend trainings
§ Submit weekly field reports to the Senior Business Advisor (SBA) and Market Analyst; support impact monitoring and evaluation activities;
§ Participate in regular team training activities to build own training skills, including monthly team meetings in person;
§ Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Business Advisor
· Willingness to be based in in Majang Zone, either Mengeshi Woreda or Godere Wordea and willingness to spend significant time in rural areas;
· Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field – Agriculture/agribusiness, environmental management, business/economics, or other relevant fields, etc.
· May accept experience in lieu of four-year degree; - at least two to four years of professional experience— ideally private sector— in one or more of the following areas: Sustainability, marketing research, particularly in agriculture sector; business or cooperative management, agriculture, training or extension.
· Strong planning skills and experience working to strict time-guidelines;
· Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills and as well as negotiation and problem solving skills;
· Willingness to drive a motorcycle;
· Commitment to advancing gender equity
· In addition to Amharic, excellent English oral & written presentation skills
· Computer literacy, including Word and Excel
PREFERRED SKILLS:
· Experience working in the coffee, honey, spices, and/or other NTFP market systems;
· Experience with projects using a Making Market Systems Work for the Poor (M4P) or Market Systems Facilitation (MSF) approach
· Familiarity with Majang/Gambella area
· Ability to speak in relevant local language(s)
· Experience working in promoting and supporting gender strategies
