Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Under the general supervision of the EPC Project Manager (Shelter/NFI) and the direct supervision of the EPC Shelter Officer, the Senior Shelter Assistant will support the shelter and construction activities under the EPC unit including refugee and IDP program activities with particular focus on field sites.
In close coordination with the Shelter/NFI Project Manager, Shelter Officer and field shelter staff, support the coordination and 1. implementation of IOM Ethiopia’s emergency, transitional and permanent shelter and construction activities.
2. Coordinate with the Government of Ethiopia’s National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC) and the Administration for Refugee and Returnee Affairs as appropriate to the humanitarian context for internally displaced and refugee communities.
3. Identify and recommend actions to address daily operational issues of shelter and construction activities and provide inputs for timely and program planning and implementation,
4. Support the Shelter and construction operations by liaising with Procurement, Finance, HR, and Logistics units of IOM Addis Ababa and field to verify if requests from the field operations are met in the required timelines.
5. Preparing monitoring reports and guidance documents for project implementation.
6. Compile and present to the Shelter Officer the monthly mid-year and final project reports. Suggest procedures to complement or adapt IOM general instructions in line with operational needs
7. Perform such other duties as assigned.
