Radio Operator Supervisor
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:
The incumbent will responsible for the functioning of the Radio Room of the Delegation of Addis-Ababa. She/he manages a team of radio operators, participate in security meetings and contributes to security procedures and other Standard Operating Procedures for the Radio Operations in the Delegation of Addis-Ababa. She/he is responsible for all resources in use in the radio room, ICRC telecommunication equipment installed in Radio room to monitor the movement of the ICRC vehicles – cars, airplanes, and represents the radio operators in meetings and interactions with other departments.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Functional Responsibilities
Organizes and runs radio room in the Delegation of Addis-Ababa and ensures the smooth communication between different sites, vehicles and people.
Organizes and controls the filing of all messages transiting the radio-room. Controls all equipment installed and assigned to the radio-room, request any repair and preventive maintenance.
Supervises the radio operations by ensuring the radio operators act as relays between stations (fixed, mobile or portable) in case of communication problems.
Provides the radio telecommunication briefing to all delegation employees.
Regularly adapt and update standard operations procedures used in Radio Room to align them with contextual operations needs
People Management Responsibilities
Supervises and coordinates all radio operators of Addis-Ababa Delegation.
Establishes the duty schedules, including shifts, days off and holidays on a regular basis in order to run the radio-room in a specified time window.
Identifies training needs and provides training to the radio operators.
Prepares and conducts the performance evaluation process for all radio operators of the Delegation.
Manages leave for staff while assuring adequate staffing, tracking and administering overtime, resolving and documenting shift complaints and suggestions in accordance with policies and procedures.
Reviews e-mail and mail boxes to check for any matters requiring attentionREQUIREMENTS
Specialized technical certificate or non-specialized university degree.
Confirmed technical skills in Radio communication field.
Very good knowledge in Computer and basic skills in telecommunication troubleshooting.
Experience in people (team) management.
Ability to provide and share expertise in technical and administrative fields.
Good command of English and Amharic
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar job from a reputable organisation.
Excellent knowledge of country and local terrain
Ability to listen closely.
Clear Verbal Communication.
High sense of confidentiality.
Ability to work independently.
Good Team spirit.
Interpersonal Skills
Ability to work under pressure
Willingness to work on shift basis.
