SNV Ethiopia is looking for dynamic, experienced, talented, energetic, flexible, open and ready tolearn candidates for WASH Advisor- Addis Ababa-Country Office position in the extension project of Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (SSH4A) Results program in Este woreda of South Gondar Zone, Amhara National Regional State. This project is financed by UK department for International Development (DfID) starting from 1st January to 31st March 2020 with about 27 million Ethiopian Birr project budget.
The successful appointee will have access to start-up resources and some ongoing support, and will be encouraged to apply for his/her own skills, knowledge and experience. This position is fully responsible to contribute in steering SNV Ethiopia WASH sector development, quality of practices and business development at country level, in line with global sector strategy, cross-cutting themes and within delegation from Country Project Lead, in order to improve sector performance and delivery of results in WASH projects. More specifically the position requires to facilitate and link the Sustainable Sanitation and Hygiene for All (SSH4A) Results programme at Federal, level. It also requires to provide technical support to Community Sanitation and Hygiene mobilizers working for the SSH4A results programme in Este woreda, Amhara National regional state (ANRS). The post holder is responsible for the delivery of results putting into consideration the requirements of donor (DFID), as well as SNV’s internal policy and management requests in line with pre agreed program plans & objectives and oversees program implementation at all stages throughout the project cycle.
Applicants should possess qualifications and requirements in relevant disciplines in the areas of Environmental Health and WASH; A relevant MSc. Degree is preferable (with 10 years similar work experience in sanitation and hygiene development activities in a rural setting with demonstrated knowledge of business development; demand triggering using S/CLTSH approaches; behaviour change communication(BCC), Supply chain and financing(Sanitation Marketing); and WASH-governance/multi-stakeholder development; strong management skills – planning and organisation; problem solving and decision making experience within a busy working environment such as INGOs, Excellent computer skills especially in MS Excel spread sheets and MS Word, high level of integrity and ability to work as part of a professional team, ability and willingness to work under high pressure to meet tight deadlines. The person will also have excellent communication skills, fluency in written and spoken English and local language; confidence to work with limited direct support and strong organizational and time management skills to be able to manage priorities within own workload, identify deadlines and cope with conflicting demands under pressure. Good analytical and problem solving skills, with ability to devise appropriate systems and solutions.
