Max Foundation is an international non-government organisation that aims to improve child health and prevent child mortality in the most efficient and effective way. We are fast growing and innovative, integrating WASH, Nutrition and Health to serve poor and marginalized people. Max Foundation believes that charity profits from a business driven approach. To know more about Max Foundation, visit: www.maxfoundation.org.
Max Foundation is currently active in Bangladesh and Nepal, and has the ambition to start working in Ethiopia in 2019 and therefore is setting up a local office. The local office will be registered in Ethiopia but be part of the Max Foundation international organization with headquarters in the Netherlands, with a common vision, mission and strategy.
Max Foundation is planning a multi-million multi-year Nutrition-WASH Healthy Village program in Ethiopia, for which it is securing funding for Max Foundation and partners.
The Healthy Village program puts WASH and Nutrition at the heart of community-led efforts to reduce levels of stunting, diarrhoea and other water-and faecal-borne diseases to contribute to better child health in communities. We focus on a healthy start in life for children under five, through targeted program elements such as child growth monitoring and baby WASH. We focus on hygiene and nutrition behaviour change as essential to achieve health impacts. Other key elements for sustainable results are: strengthening the private sector through sanitation marketing, and a full coverage approach. The program contributes to the long-term goal of the Government of Ethiopia to improve the health of children and reduce child mortality (<5 years). This program builds on our previous experience of successful integrated programs in Bangladesh, adapted and contextualized to the Ethiopian context.
