The Child Protection Officer has responsibility to initiate, oversee and support the implementation of Child Protection strategies and activities at the Pugnido Refugee Camp and at the entry points. The CP Officer will be responsible for coordinating the work of and providing guidance to the Community CP Social Workers. The post-holder will report to the Program Coordinator with technical relationship with CP Specialist.
Key Accountabilities
· Manage and support the individual case management process including identification, documentation and referrals.
· Provide problem solving solutions to social workers.
· Coordinate with other agencies relating to interagency Child Protection issues arising at camp level.
· Liaise with local ARRA leadership regarding Child Protection issues to be addressed at community level.
· Facilitate regular meetings with local community leaders (zone leaders / block leaders) regarding community based child protection interventions and actions;
· Ensure the correct management of Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS) documentation at camp level;
· Facilitate participatory analysis and planning at block levels to identify and prioritise risks posed to children;
· Provide CP social Workers with technical support regarding complex cases or specific technical difficulties
· Responsible for the overall project implementation, works with and supervises the activities of Community based Incentive Social workers at the Child Friendly Spaces
· Contribute to the design of an overall programme contingency plan.
· Produce timely progress reports, including both quantitative and qualitative information, on CP activities and input into regular situation reports.
· Identify and build links with other partners, ensuring that issues for child protection are raised and addressed.
· Comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to Child Protection, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies
· Knowledge of refugee operations; knowledge of the area is an added advantage;
· Experience in designing and facilitating training sessions;
· Experience in working in an insecure environment

· Knowledge of the Gambella region socio-culture and local language where the post is located
