WFP Ethiopia is working with the government and other humanitarian partners to strengthen the resilience of Ethiopia’s most vulnerable population and to chart a more prosperous and sustainable future for the next generation. The Country Office also supports programmes that use food assistance to empower women, transform areas affected by climate change and keep children in school. It aims to contribute to Ethiopia’s five-year development agenda, the Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), through which the Government combats food insecurity.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
These job is found in WFP Ethiopia Country Office, Jijiga sub-office and job holder report to Head of Area Office (HoAO) for WFP Somali Region, Ethiopia.
Job holder will manage a moderate portfolio of activities that may include contribution to and/or direct management of programmes in Jijiga of moderate complexity. Job holder will operate with considerable independence in her/his specialities and will manage a substantial team of junior professional and support staff.
JOB PURPOSE
Manage and lead WFP field operations in Jijiga Sub Office, to ensure timely and effective deployment of food assistance programmes.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Position Duration: One year with possibility of extension
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience: Advanced University degree in Economics, International Development, Social Sciences or other related field with 4 years of professional experience. Or, first University degree with 6 years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE:
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English. Knowledge of the local language is added advantage.
