BRIDGE, Building Rural Income through Inclusive Dairy Business Growth in Ethiopia, is a five-year dairy development project (2018-2023), implemented by SNV Ethiopia in partnership with Wageningen University-Livestock Research.
The impact of the project is to contribute to an “improved performance in the dairy sector in Ethiopia”, for 120,000 farming households, with four main outcomes: (1) Improved milk production, (2) Improved milk collection, processing, and marketing, (3) Improved consumption of nutritious foods, and (4) Improved enabling environment. The project will work in 4 regional states: Oromia, Amhara, SNNP and Tigray.

SNV Ethiopia is looking for dynamic, experienced, talented, energetic, flexible, open and ready to learn candidates for Dairy Extention Advisor position for its growing program and the Building Rural Income through Inclusive Dairy Business Growth in Ethiopia (BRIDGE) project in Tigray Region, Mekelle
The role
The successful appointee will have access to start-up resources and some ongoing support and will be encouraged to apply for his/her own skills, knowledge and experience. The purpose of this position is to support and facilitate the rollout of participatory extension and advisory services developed under the EDGET and DairyBiss projects (2012-2018) and the government extension system. She/he plays a key role in the extension system as an analyst, planner, trainer, and facilitator.
In line with the participatory dairy extension strategy, developed under EDGET and to be scaled-up in BRIDGE, the Dairy Extension Advisor is responsible to support the implementation of this strategy in the cluster. Joint planning, monitoring with the zonal & woreda Livestock Offices is key areas of consideration.
In addition, the Extension Advisor has a responsibility of facilitating the linkage between the farms and the private advisors.
The Person
Applicants should possess qualifications and requirements in relevant disciplines in the areas of BSc in Animal Science or related fields. A Relevant MSc. Degree is preferable. (At least 4 years’ experience, having good understanding/skills and work experiences on dairy extension techniques and with training material development, training of trainers, public and preferably private extension delivery models, research-extension linkages and extension-education linkages. Two-year preferable experience in team leader position and/or manager position.
EDUCATION
· BSc in Animal Science or related fields. A Relevant MSc. Degree is preferable.
EXPERIENCE
· At least 4 years’ experience,
· Having good understanding/skills and work experiences on dairy extension techniques and with training material development, training of trainers, public and preferably private extension delivery models, research-extension linkages and extension-education linkages.
