Teams in the field combat hunger on 4 fronts: Nutrition and Health, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Water, Sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and Mental Health and Care Practices (MHCP).
For our Food Security Department in Borena, we are currently looking for the following professional:
Food Security and Livelihood Program Manager
Work Base: Borena

Project Duration: Contract with possibility of extension
General Assignment:
Responsible to manage the implementation of both development and Emergency projects of food security, livelihood and community based Disaster Risk Management (DRM) activities in AAH.
Objective 1: Plan and implement FSL-DRM Program Activities
Activities:
Ø Prepare Detailed Implementation Plan for the execution of for program implementation in order to achieve the set objectives;
Ø Perform food security and livelihoods situation and/or vulnerability assessments ( majorly baseline assessment, surveillance and rapid/emergency analysis)
Ø Managing the day-to-day activities of the program working closely with Field Coordinator and Technical Advisors to ensure adherence to donor and AAH policies, mission and regulations.
Ø Network with kebele, woreda and zone level government officials and any other relevant NGOs operators to ensure smooth operation and cooperation on projects.
Ø Organize and facilitate capacity building trainings for beneficiaries in partnership with AAH partners at woreda and zone levels in consultation with Field Coordinator and Technical Advisors.
Ø Ensure relevant and accurate data are gathered and properly analysed for project planning in accordance with donor’s requirements, AAH mission, and participate in project development including timeframe and log frame creation and management.
Ø Ensure relevant development partners like local community members (children, youth, adult males and females), recognized leaders and concerned woreda line offices participate in the project planning process.
Ø Liaise with logistics to ensure procurement plans are implemented and tracked according to AAH and donor regulations.
Ø Ensure that efficient systems to support all aspects of the program are in place and support the effective use of program resources in compliance with AAH policies.
Ø Ensure that all program activities are implemented efficiently and effectively to maximize impact and sustainability.
Ø Develop creative ways to implement projects if there are problems with the proposed plan and communicate the same to Field Coordinator and Technical Advisors in a timely fashion.
Objective 2: Team/Personnel Management
Activities:
Ø Organise the team work and plan of actions (planning/responsibilities) per weekly and monthly basis;
Ø Participate in the recruitment of staffs as required;
Ø Carry-out personal performance appraisal the team members;
Ø Identify teams` training needs and develop the capacity of the team by delivering on job training ;
Ø Work and collaborate transparently and efficiently with all the support departments both at base and capital levels especially for timely purchasing and distribution of the necessary agricultural inputs for project beneficiaries ( raising of PRs and follow up its progress)
Ø Create a productive working environment for staff and stakeholders to enable them to achieve the desired goals of the organization.
Ø Motivate staff to contribute their knowledge, skill and experience unreservedly for effective and efficient program implementation.
Ø Promote team spirit amongst staff for sharing of responsibilities to make the program successful.
Ø Proactively develop the capacity of project staffs.
Ø Ensure all staff job descriptions are up to date.
Ø Ensure mid-term and annual performance appraisals are conducted and completed for all staff.
Objective 3 : Financial Management and Reporting
Activities
Ø Manage the project budget to ensure accurate and effective use of funds.
Ø Facilitate the monthly budget projections and cash needs projections for the project and ensuring adequate funds are available at all times.
Ø Developing annual financial plans of the program and ensure that these financial plans are implemented in accordance with annual physical/activity plans
Ø Develop tools necessary to track project progress and communicate regularly to all program teams and other responsible bodies (TAs, FC, GRCM, DCDP, etc.).
Ø Collect, analyze and disseminate in a timely manner project progress reports in consultation with partners, stakeholders, technical advisors, partner agencies and other relevant sources of information.
Ø Ensure that monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual internal and external reports are prepared in accordance with the agreed upon formats with complete information required in line with requirements and set objectives and submit them to the appropriate parties on time.
Objective 4: Monitoring and evaluation
Activities:
Ø Follow up critically the evolution of the disasters situation of the area
Ø Propose timely responses for the predicted hazards
Ø Initiate new project development (prepare concept notes for projects) based on accurate baseline surveys and information.
Ø Participate actively in developing a coherent and sustainable DRR/DRM strategy for the country
Ø Plan and implement regular project monitoring and evaluation activities (periodical meetings, joint monitoring visits, annual assessments, etc.) among project staffs, partners and stakeholders to provide up-to-date information, feedback on the status of project implementation.
Ø Monitor and evaluate expected outputs & program objectives using logical framework approaches.
Ø Ensure proper project plan preparation and tools are in place for project monitoring & evaluation.
Ø Conduct regular site visits to monitor the implementation of activities and give guidance to HoPs and community development agents majorly in areas of animal asset building/animal health activities/fodder development/rangeland management/dry land crop farming promotion, establishment and management of community based local institutions in DRM/PFS/IGAs/VSLAs sectors ;
Objective 5: Representing AAH
Ø Participate at zonal and Woreda level meetings and workshops mainly in related with FSL-DRM and technical working groups issues;
Ø Develop a network of contacts at base level (NGOs, Government, and Research centre) to allow a smooth implementation of the project.
Ø Implement other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Field coordinator
Objective 6 : Additional Responsibilities
Activities :
Ø Perform any additional task assigned by direct line manager, (N+1) in line with job description and plan of action.
