Role purpose
Under the direct supervision of Child Safeguarding and PSEA Head, the post holder is expected to meet the child safeguarding and PSEA standard practices in humanitarian and development programs.
In general, she/he will be responsible to assist field offices and country office to ensure compliances are meet through incorporating safe programing practices in all program cycle, facilitate training for various groups, participate in investigation, develop friendly materials and guidelines, monitoring of standard practices of sectors, reporting, data management and share the learnings both in humanitarian response and development programs
The role holder will be expected to work whenever new humanitarian onset happened in the country office.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Head of Child Safeguarding
Dimensions: Save the Children works in all regions of Ethiopia with a current staff complement of approximately 1900 and current expenditure of approximately $90+ million each year.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
· Organize child safeguarding training and other capacity building sessions for functions, project staff, partners with due emphasis for national programs, bigger consortium projects and humanitarian response at country office and field offices in particular.
· Conduct on going refreshment training for staff, partner’s focal points on child safeguarding and PSEA.
· Organize safe programming training for program managers and partners’ focal persons
· Participate on the development and the revision of child safeguarding annual plan and humanitarian response plan in particular
· Create database for risk assessment of projects, periodically monitored the status and generate reports for program managers and SLT update.
· Develop mitigation activities and budget plan for identified risk in the proposal
· Track the secured budget from award and program manager for effective utilization of the budget
· Develop child safeguarding award report for donors that has safeguarding component as requested by award unit/Program managers
· Support the PDU team on standardizing safeguarding language and member driven safeguarding risk assessment in the award.
· Provide child safeguarding technical support for consortium projects including policy development, local reporting procedure, risk assessment & other relevant tools as required
· Maintain partners’ data on risk assessment, support and upload status update
· Develop different child safeguarding and PSEA friendly tools and guidelines for various groups
· Develop messages for various groups, facilitate translation, editorial and follow up the publication process
· Conduct risk assessment of sectors and high risk projects collaboration with respective leads and focal points of the country program.
· Participate on pre award partnership assessment, analyze the risks and support on the identified gaps in collaboration with partners
· Compile regular report on child safeguarding activities in coordination with focal points and child safeguard officer
· Develop local reporting structure and update the focal points contacts for the country office
· Facilitate children and adult participation for effective reporting of concern and complaints in collaboration with MEAL unit.
· Report child safeguarding and PSEA incidents in DATIX system timely and assist on the updating the case status
· Track the induction and risk status of community based volunteer management and update the progress
· Participate on the investigation of child safeguarding and PSEA reported concerns
· Support the Country office audit process on child safeguarding and PSEA standard practices and monitoring the status.
· Conduct periodical review of the effectiveness existing of reporting procedures
· Develop and share child safeguarding tips for staff and partners on monthly and quarterly bases reactively
· Participate on kick off meetings and related forums to ensure child safeguarding standard practices are considered for the specific projects as relevant
· Follow up the administrative issues of the unit in relation to agreement, procurement, travel and etc.
· The role holder may be required to carry out additional duties with the reasonable of his/her level of skill and experience

· Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences and relevant field
· Five years of proven experience on child protection, education, social work, child safeguarding and other related filed.
· Experience on facilitation and coordination of trainings and workshops
· Working directly with children and youth
· Experience on child safeguarding and PSEA
· Experience in conducting project risk assessment, monitoring and report writing
· Managing high work load and divers demands
· Practical experience on child participation on the intervention of program activities.
· Proficiency in the use of email, internet and Microsoft office packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and other database
· Fluency in written and spoken English
Desirable
· Experience working in humanitarian response programs
· Skill on illustration design and publication
· Ability to work under minimum supervision
· Good understanding on national lows and procedures
