The International Committee of the Red Cross Delegation to the African Union and International Organizations in Africa is looking for a highly qualified candidate to fill up the following vacant position based in Addis Ababa.
Humanitarian Affairs Advisor 2
Humanitarian Affairs Adviser 2 provides support to the delegation in understanding and influencing the wider humanitarian environment in the given context. S/He also helps it shape its engagement with both multilateral and regional fora as well as UN-led fora in-country
Under the supervision of the Deputy Head of Delegation/Humanitarian Affairs Advisor 3, S/he is responsible for:
Listening and understand the main views and policy objectives of key government bodies, UN agencies, humanitarian organizations and NGOs and the dynamics related to humanitarian affairs.
Advises the delegation on national and regional issues and political affairs and how they impact/relate to humanitarian action.
Supports and advises the delegation in achieving diplomacy and policy objectives.
Builds and maintains a strong national network of stakeholders connected to humanitarian affairs and beneficial to the delegation.
Engages with humanitarian coordination structures as agreed with the Head of Delegation/Deputy Head of Delegation.
Represents the ICRC in key fora in coordination with the Head of Delegation/Deputy Head of Delegation and Humanitarian Affairs Advisor 3.
Certifications / Education required
Language Skills and other competencies
Fluent command of English and French language; other language’s will be an asset
Computer proficiency.
Profile
Strongly motivated by humanitarian work, with capacity to engage and influence others
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create and maintain positive relations
Robust analytical and writing skills.
Robust organizational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities in an autonomous manner
Driver’s license an asset
